scottie pippen lawsuit gi Scottie Pippen facing $4 million lawsuit after attacking autograph seeker

A man who claims former Chicago Bulls all star Scottie Pippen attacked him after he asked for an autograph for his girlfriend’s 12-year-old son is leveling a $4 million lawsuit at the basketball great. Filed on July 11 in Los Angeles Superior Court, 49-year-old Camran Shafighi is looking for damages to cover the heath issues he’s suffered since the attack and the economic losses for not being able to run his business.

According to investigators, Shafighi was photographing Pippen while the former athlete was dining with his family at Nobu, an upscale Malibu restaurant, on June 23. Shafighi continued to take photographs when Pippen walked into the parking lot, and then the man approached Pippen and asked for an autograph. At that point Pippen delivered a “brutal and unjustified physical attack” that included spit to the face, a shove, a punch that knocked Shafighi out and repeated punches and kicks while the man was unconscious.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Shafighi now suffers from headaches, nausea, breathing difficulties and other health issues. Meanwhile Pippen cooperated with police at the time of the incident and was not arrested.

Conflicting reports claim that Shafighi was intoxicated when he approached Pippen. Some witnesses say Shafighi was drunk, while Shafighi’s attorney says otherwise. An argument in the parking lot is said to have caused the attack. It remains to be seen how Pippen responds to the suit.
