Children of the ’80s remember the Kraken from 1981’s “Clash of the Titans”: a multi-armed, heavily muscled monster conjured up to stop dimpled Harry Hamlin.
(Lucky children of the ’80s had the giant-sized Kraken action figure. Really lucky children of the ’80s had the giant-sized Kraken action figure and “The Empire Strikes Back’s” toy AT-AT. We were neither.)
The first trailer from the “Clash of the Titans” remake, however, made no reference to the Kraken, leaving us worried such a vital piece of pseudo-mythology would be re-imagined into nothingness. We shouldn’t have worried.
The second “Clash” trailer features not just the expected gods and monsters — someone sure loves giant scorpions! — but Liam Neeson‘s Zeus shouting for our favorite abominable amphibian.
Without spoiling too much, we’ll just say we love the look, a combination of octopus and “Cloverfield.”
