selena-gomez-photos-facebook-hacker-bieber-tattoo.jpgThe British man who hacked into Selena Gomez’s Facebook page in January 2011 and posted “Justin Bieber sucks” has been sentenced to a year in jail.

The Sun reports that Gareth Crosskey posed as Gomez’s stepfather, Brian Teefey, the administrator of her page, and persuaded Facebook staffers to reset the password.

He then posted a video on YouTube showing how he had hacked the account. Crosskey also claims he had access to personal emails between Gomez and boyfriend, Justin Bieber, and between her and best friend, Demi Lovato.

Crosskey was caught during a joint investigation by the FBI and the London Metropolitan Police’s e-crime unit.

“People deserve privacy and should not have their private correspondence made public,” Judge John Price told Crosskey before sentencing.

Do you think it’s an apt punishment for the crime?
