selena gomez e special Selena Gomez: 'I don't feel like I'm good enough for my mom'Selena Gomez has always been candid about her strong bone with her mother, but in an upcoming E! special, she gets particularly emotional about their special relationship.

“I remember when my parents broke up I didn’t understand it,” Selena admits in clips released from the show. “I blamed my
mom a lot. Because I wanted a family so bad. I wanted to have my dad and
my mom together, so it was really hard.”

Though she was only five years old at the time, Gomez still deals with guilt for lashing out at her mom during that tough time. “I remember just being really angry with my mom and I still feel really
bad for that,” she says. “I think still to this day I don’t feel like I’m good
enough for my mom. I try to make her proud. She’s everything.”

Gomez admits that when she first moved to LA at age 6, the transition wasn’t easy. “I cried every single night, for probably three months,” she says. “As much as I wanted to go home, I was so happy from like seven in the morning to like three thirty in the afternoon because I was on set. I never wanted to give up.”

Her first audition was on her 7th birthday, for “Barney and Friends.”

“There was about fourteen hundred girls outside of this building. I was sitting in the line and the girl in front of me had a blue jean jacket on and a cute red bow, and it was Demi.”

She’s referring to Demi Lovato, of course. The two remained close. In fact, Lovato recently tweeted to a fan that while she was struggling with self-harm and her eating disorder, Gomez was “always” there.

For more from Selena Gomez, tune into the E! special at 10 p.m. on June 29.

Update: Zap2it spoke with Maria Canals-Barrera, who plays Gomez’s mother on “The Wizards of Waverly Place,” who when she heard about Gomez’s insecurities about her real life mom, said, “Mothers are supposed to and most often do love their daughters unconditionally. Go ahead and receive that love.”
