selena gomez hindu bindi gi Selena Gomez pleases Hindu group with bindi free 'Come & Get It' music video

When Selena Gomez debuted a new song at the MTV Movie Awards, it wasn’t “Come & Get It” that became a topic of discussion the next day. Instead, it was the fact that wore a bindi on her forehead that caught the singer flack from some fans and a religious group.
Rajan Zed, a spokesman for the Universal Society of Hinduism says the mark on a person’s forehead is an ancient Hindu tradition with religious significance. “It is not meant to be thrown around loosely for seductive effects or as a fashion accessory aiming at mercantile greed. Selena should apologize and then she should get acquainted with the basics of world religions,” he reasons.
Though Selena wore the bindi for more live performances of the song, it is absent from her new music video for “Come & Get It.” Following the video’s release May 7, Zed released another statement, which was obtained by E! Online.
In the statement, Zed notes he is pleased Gomez didn’t use the bindi in her video, but also suggests she “seriously explore Hinduism,” adding that he and other Hindu scholars would be willing to assist her.
No word from Gomez on if she’ll take Zed up on the offer, but you can check out the video yourself below:
