steven moffat doctor who sherlock critics gi 'Sherlock': Steven Moffat doesn't care about critics but wants them to be nice

“Sherlock” creator and executive producer Steven Moffat (also the busy man behind “Doctor Who”) doesn’t think critics’ response to his show will make much of a difference. Still, he likes to hear good things. This may just express the feelings of every show producer ever.

Moffat made his comments on critics while talking to the BBC about the upcoming Season 3 of “Sherlock.” Asked whether he was concerned about a critical response, Moffat did not seem worried at all. “I don’t know how much of a difference it makes to ‘Sherlock,'” the producer says. “It notoriously doesn’t hugely make an impact on big, successful shows what the critics say.”

He has a point. “Sherlock” Season 3 could be terrible and the Benedict Cumberbatch/Martin Freeman show would still be a success.

But this doesn’t mean that Moffat wants negative reviews or anything. He noted in the same interview that positive comments from critics can make a big “difference to my day.” So Moffat does care!

Following an extended break after the end of Season 2, “Sherlock” Season 3 will finally premiere on Jan. 1 in the U.K. and on Jan. 19 in the U.S.
