The network has ordered the actor’s comedy pilot that he created and will co-star in with Jonathan Silverman, it was announced Friday (March 26).

The single-camera half hour comedy centers on two friends who are has-been actors from a sci-fi show that’s no longer on the air. Their life without that fame has much to be desired, and they need to find out how to live like successfully like regular Joes.

More pilot stuff …

 – Don Johnson will go Texan for ABC’s comedy “Southern Discomfort,” along with Steve Talley, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project revolves around a conservative, no-nonsense Texan (Johnson) whose empty nest gets refilled when his grown kids move back. Talley will play the dreamer eldest son who decided to pursue writing instead of taking a baseball scholarship.
 – Terry Kinney will play a peculiar criminal for CBS’ “The Line,” which follows an ATF agent (Dylan Walsh) as he hunts down miscreants. Kinny will portray a sociopathic bank robber who likes to philosophize and write poetry.
 – Josh Schwartz’s CBS comedy “Hitched” has added Thomas Middleditch as the hopeless romantic best friend of a newlywed couple (Kristin Kreuk and Jack Carpetnter).

Switching over to cable pilots …

 – “Superman Returns” star Brandon Routh, along with Hal Linden, Amir Arison, Tina Majorino and Kevin Michael Richardson have signed on for TBS’ “In Security,” which centers on sisters (Constance Zimmer and Kat Foster) who must balance personal issues while running their dad’s (Linden) private-security business with elite clientele. Routh, who’s been seen on “Chuck” this season, will play a former Navy SEAL who becomes a bodyguard for the firm and gets intimate with one of the sisters. Majorino, Richardson and Arison will also play employees.
 – AMC’s “Walking Dead” has cast “The Ghost Writer” actor Jon Bernthal as Shane, the partner and friend of police officer Rick Grimes, who leads a group of survivors in the wake of a zombie apocalypse. Based on the comic book by Robert Kirkman.
 – Back to TBS, the 1980s frat comedy “Glory Daze” has added Tim Jo and Josh Brener.
 – Finally, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, Reed Diamond and Dana Davis are on board at TBS’ “Franklin and Bash,” about street lawyers Jared Franklin (Breckin Meyer) and Steven Bash (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) who take down a law firm in high profile cast, but then get hired by that same firm’s patriarch, Stanton Infeld (Malcolm McDowell). Davis will play one of the employees there, while Diamond will play Infeld’s nephew. Beauvais-Nilon will play the nephew’s girlfriend.
