tom welling smallville 320 'Smallville' to hang up its cape after Season 10The CW is expected to officially announce that next season will be the last one for “Smallville” at the network upfronts and star Tom Welling confirmed Tuesday (May 18) night to HollywoodLife that it’s indeed 10 and done for the show.

Not that we’re surprised. There’s only so long you can stretch our Clark Kent before you get to Superman, and when the edict from Day One has been “no flights, no tights,” you’re a little hampered after a decade.

Plus, the past couple of seasons have been a lot more about Green Arrow for our money.

Still, even though it’s been on the brink of cancellation for a few years, an unexpectedly strong performance in the ratings on its new Friday night home gave it yet another reprieve averaging 2.35 million viewers a week (down from 6.3 million in its prime).
