Jimmy Fallon‘s return to “Saturday Night Live” — this time as a host, instead of a cast member — was a nostalgia-fest of epic proportions. Of course, Fallon is a beloved part of “SNL” history, but perhaps the best testament to his legacy on the show is just how many of his former co-stars were willing to return to work with him again.
Aside from the Pat Sullivan cold open which featured Rachel Dratch and Amy Poehler, Fallon was also joined by Horatio Sanz, Chris Kattan, and Tracy Morgan for a rendition of “I Wish It Was Christmas Today.”
Our favorite part of the evening, however, was the “Weekend Update” Joke-Off, in which former “Weekend Update” partners in crime battled for the crown. Yes, Tina Fey returned to the desk with her old pal Fallon, and Poehler and Seth Meyers reunited for a series of jokes about a strip club running a holiday toy drive.
Truth? The jokes weren’t that funny. But it didn’t matter, because the fun of seeing all four “Weekend Update” stars back behind the desk — together, at that — overshadowed the lackluster laughs.
