kurt sutter sons of anarchy prequel 'Sons of Anarchy': Kurt Sutter talks prequel series set in the 60s

“Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter has been very open in the past about his idea to do a prequel for his biker “Hamlet,” once it ends after Season 7. He wants the show to focus on the origins of SAMCRO.
During the “Sons for Sandy” relief event on Sunday (November 10), Sutter was again asked about the show, now that Season 6 has wrapped shooting. “I’ve had discussions with the network about it, and I think they are open to it,” he tells People. “I think there is something really interesting about the origins of the club. And to do a period piece set in the ’60s, post-Vietnam could be kind of cool.”
Though he’s definitely working on the idea, that doesn’t mean it will hit TV as soon as “Sons of Anarchy” ends, as Kurt continues, “I don’t think we would dovetail and start right after the series ended, but it’s something I’m potentially excited about it.”
As for what to expect from the final season of the show, Sutter knows how it will end. He told Zap2it that he has a final shot in mind, but as for everything else that will happens, Kurt has some idea. “I always have a sense of where a season is going to start halfway through the previous season,” he says. He won’t venture back into the writers room until January to hammer out the details with his team though, so things could definitely change.
“Sons of Anarchy” airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
