star wars the force awakens trailer 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens': BB8 is real, Jakku is not Tatooine and more need to know information
The Star Wars Celebration “Force Awakens” panel was rife with new information about the movie for fans. Director J.J. Abrams, executive producer Kathleen Kennedy, new stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac and returning faces Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels and Peter Mayhew were all present to offer up details.
In addition to the new trailer released, here’s what was revealed during the “Star Wars VII” panel.
1. That desert planet isn’t Tatooine
The planet teased in the first “Force Awakens” trailer wasn’t the same desert setting in the previous two “Star Wars” trilogies. Instead of being Tatooine, Abrams says this new planet is called Jakku, and fans will learn more about it soon.
2. The film stars a scavenger, a Stormtrooper and an X-Wing pilot

Ridley, Boyega and Isaac all offered (clearly pre-written) teases of their new characters. For Ridley, Rey is a scavenger in a ship graveyard who is “completely self-sufficient … until she meets another character and her adventure begins.”
Boyega’s Finn is in “incredible danger,” and the way he reacts to it kicks off his adventure. The actor says this choice “launches him into the ‘Star Wars’ universe in a very unique way.”
Lastly, Isaac says Poe Dameron is the “best freakin’ pilot in the galaxy. He’s been sent on a mission by a certain princess, and he ends up coming across Mr. John Boyega’s character and their fates are forever intertwined.”.
3. BB8 is not CGI
It took about a second after fans saw rolling droid BB8 for the first time for him to become a new favorite. Beyond being adorable, he’s also completely practical. The droid was presented on stage at Star Wars Celebration to huge cheers, and Abrams says having him be real was hugely helpful for the cast.

4. A lot more female characters are coming
Kennedy, a mother of two, promises more “really strong women, not only in ‘Episode VII,’ but the conversations we have moving forward, there are going to be a lot of wonderful new characters.” Get excited.
