Yes, Daniel Hardman is gone. Don’t look for him in “Blind-Sided,” the first episode back after the several-month hiatus. The winter episodes of “Suits” focus on how the law firm can move forward after the business equivalent of a civil war.
It’s going to be brutal. Of course, this being “Suits,” it’s also going to be brilliant. “Blind-Sided” shows this well. Here are five things you need to know before “Suits” returns with new episodes in January.
1. Mike is spiraling out-of-control.
With his beloved grandmother gone, Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) really has no one to turn to. His lone friend at work, Rachel (Meghan Markle), is mad at him for sleeping with Tess after Grams’ funeral. Harvey (Gabriel Macht) just wants Mike to get back to work. And Mike himself seems incapable of focusing and making smart decisions. This might have something to do with all the pot he is smoking…
2. Harvey Specter is a softie when faced with a child.
The biggest shock of “Blind-Sided” comes when hardcore litigator and confirmed narcissist Harvey Specter is faced with a small child. The result? Harvey suddenly morphs into a sweet, funny and entirely lovable teddy-bear of a guy. It’s almost disturbingly endearing.
3. Female Louis returns!
If you have missed Ms. Sheila Sazs (Rachael Harris), this is the episode for you. The female equivalent of Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman) returns with a vengeance in winter premiere. Her scenes are a definite highlight and may leave you crying with laughter.
4. Moral ambiguity of the Jean Valjean sort…
If you know the central conflict surrounding the character of Jean Valjean in “Les Miserables,” you can get an idea of the case of the week in “Blind-Sided.” The client — and his lawyers — are faced with the same dilemma: Is it better to move forward with a valuable life, at the expense of an unworthy criminal, or should one admit to a crime and give up everything?
5. There is a new mystery.
Move over, can opener. “Suits” fans have a new set of mysterious objects to consider. What exactly would two people do with “coconut oil, a ski mask and duct tape”?
“Blind-Sided” airs on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 10pm on USA.
