Sundance Channel wants to give TV fans some extra insight into how their favorite shows get made.
The cable network has greenlit a new show called “The Writers’ Room,” which will gather the writers behind some of TV’s best shows for a half-hour chat about their craft. The show is being produced in conjunction with Entertainment Weekly.
“We know that much of today’s best entertainment is on television, but Sundance Channel and Entertainment Weekly want to know who, what, when, where and why?” says Sarah Barnett, Sundance’s general manager. “Social media has given us a lot of information about what our audience is craving — and we are listening. They want insider knowledge and a deeper perspective. This show will deliver that.”
Sundance hasn’t lined up the shows it will spotlight on “The Writers’ Room,” but it promises a mix of cable and network series and comedies and dramas. It’s scheduled to premiere in the second half of 2013.
