Misha Collins’ Twitter account is generally reserved for strange updates about livestock, porn, and Justin Bieber’s hair’s civil rights. However, after the devastating earthquake hit Haiti in January of 2010, Collins encouraged his Twitter followers – or minions, as he affectionately calls them – to donate to the relief effort.
Within twenty-four hours, Collins’ fans had raised over $30,000. With that kind of influence, it’s no surprise that Collins has decided to “conquer the world one random act of kindness at a time,” according to the mission statement of his new non-profit organization, Random Acts.
Collins recorded a video message to his fans — and his minions — filling them in on his latest random acts, which include everything from handing flowers to strangers, buying clothing and shoes for an underprivileged child, and providing new mattresses and chairs for elderly couples in need.
For his next trick, Collins will be running. On September 5th, the actor will jog “as far as he can,” and he’s asked do-gooders to pitch in by pledging a per-kilometer donation or a flat contribution.
Currently, he’s raised over $8,000 in flat donations alone. The funds will be divided between an orphanage the organization supports in Haiti, victims of the flooding in Pakistan, and “random acts of kindness” all over the world.
And, of course, Misha being Misha, .01% has been allocated for bribing public officials.
