francesca hogi survivor caramoan 'Survivor: Caramoan's' Francesca Hogi: Phillip is 'still a crazy person'Francesca Hogi made a bit of “Survivor” history when she became the first person to be the first person voted out twice. But she’s taking it all in stride, she tells Zap2it.

So. It must really stink to be the first person out twice.

“Yeah. It’s not the best thing that’s ever happened to me for sure. But it’s also not the worst. I think that since I did go out first the first time, it’s better, if I’m gonna lose, it’s better that I suffer less than more. Nineteen people are going to lose this season, so at least I got to go out first and suffer the least and make some history. I get to be at one end of the spectrum, playing twice and being first out twice. Sandra’s at the other end, playing twice and winning twice and everybody else is in between us. I’m going to look at it as a positive thing. I’m gonna focus on the silver lining.”

How was this time around different for you?

“It’s very different being with people that you know already. Having to juggle your expectations of everyone due to their reputations in the game and how they played before. So it’s very different. But at the same time, there’s a level of comfort. We knew we could build a shelter and we knew that we could start fire. A lot of the anxiety you have the first time you play, that’s gone the second time.

The first couple of days out there, I definitely had a lot more fun out there than the first time. I don’t think I had any fun the first time I played. It was a much more relaxed atmosphere on the beach. Until it wasn’t.”

Is Philip still as nutty as he seems on TV?

“Yeah. He’s just, I mean, he is a special, special man and I do not mean that in a positive way. I mean that in a politically-correct way. I don’t know where he came from or how he functions in the world. It’s fascinating, actually. He’s a crazy person. He is still a crazy person. That is who he is. I don’t think he can help himself.”

When you got voted out, who did you think had a real chance to go all the way?

“Probably anyone who wasn’t in my group of four. When I got voted out, I was worried about what would happen to Brandon, Brenda and Erik because they voted with me. I didn’t see Phillip going too far in the game just because he’s so aggravating to live with and there was no Boston Rob, who had that iron will to deal with him.

Even though Cochran is not the strongest player physically and he’s allergic to the sun, he’s very personable. He’s the classic three-legged dog. He’s super self-deprecating and he seems super weak and so everybody’s like, ‘Poor Cochran’ and everybody wants to adopt him. Nobody wants to kick the three-legged dog. But I hoped that Brenda and Brandon and Erik wouldn’t suffer for voting for me and against Andrea.”

“Survivor: Caramoan” airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
