battlestar galactica 320 Syfy mulls more 'Battlestar,' gives 'Three Inches'Syfy continues to expand its brand, which includes eyeing a spinoff of an older series as well as introducing some fresh programming.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, another “Battlestar Galactica” project that places the action back in space may fly again at Syfy, although details haven’t been released. Currently, the current “BSG” spinoff “Caprica” has been airing on Fridays to modest ratings.

The network also announced Tuesday that it’s ordered the 90-minute pilot “Three Inches,” about an unconventional superhero, from “Twin Peaks” writer harley Peyton.

The project centers on Walter, a slacker who gets jolted, literally, when he’s struck by lightning and develops the power to move anything telekinetically the distance of three inches. He joins other superheroes who have their own unique powers.

“‘Three Inches’ is a fun, smart, off-beat spin on the superhero genre. It introduces a new group of crime fighters who possess some imaginative — if not all that super — powers,” said Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Development for Syfy.

There’s been lots of “Battlestar” alum news lately with James Callis guest starring on ABC’s “FlashForward” and joining Syfy’s “Eureka” for its fourth season, Grace Park landing a role for the “Hawaii Five-0” reboot and Katee Sackhoff being cast in ABC’s cop drama pilot “Boston’s Finest.”

Check back for additional details once Syfy holds its upfront presentation, scheduled for Tuesday (March 16).
