jane lynch teen choice awards 2013 gi Teen Choice Awards 2013: Jane Lynch and 'Glee' cast to honor Cory Monteith with 'open hearts'The Teen Choice Awards may be a lighthearted event, but where “Glee” is concerned this year, there’s no getting around a tragedy

On the event’s red carpet Sunday (Aug. 11), Jane Lynch said that in going back to work on Season 5 of the FOX musical drama, she and the rest of the cast and crew — including Teen Choice co-host Darren Criss — knew it was “really important to stay together as a family” in the aftermath of co-star Cory Monteith‘s death.

“We’re really aware of how tight our bond is and how much we love each other,” Lynch added as “Glee” production ramps back up with the first half of a two-part Beatles tribute episode. It will air Thursday, Sept. 26, prior to a story that will pay tribute to Monteith and his character Finn.

Lynch also noted the “wonderful, touching memorial” staged for Monteith by his colleagues recently. “We show up in honor of Cory with open hearts to celebrate his memory,” she noted of “Glee’s” Teen Choice presence.

As for her other activities in what certainly has been a busy and varied year, Lynch reflected fondly on the “preposterous fantasy” she got to live out by making her Broadway debut as Miss Hannigan in a revival of “Annie.”

And regarding her summer hosting of NBC’s “Hollywood Game Night,” she proved she wasn’t kidding in claiming to be a personal veteran of the concept: “I”m heading to a game at (filmmaker) Adam Shankman‘s house after the (Teen Choice) show!”
