teen mom amber portwood 'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood headed to rehab, not jail (hopefully)Although “Teen Mom” star Amber Portwood just pled guilty to violating her probation and possessing prescription drugs without a prescription — crimes that come with a five-year jail sentence total — the MTV reality star is more likely heading to an intensive rehab program instead of going back behind bars.

According to E! Online, Portwood’s deal means that she’ll complete Madison County’s outpatient drug treatment program for anywhere from 18 months to three years, depending on what the drug court judge says at Portwood’s next hearing on Thursday (Feb. 9).
The judge will decide on Thursday whether or not Portwood is suitable for the program. Once enrolled, if she messes up even once, she’ll run the risk of being sent to jail to serve the five-year stayed sentence.
Tonya Portwood, Amber’s mom, tells E! she thinks the sentence is too harsh, saying,

“I think they are using her as a prime example to make themselves look good for political reasons…I don’t think she should have received the punishment she was given [in the first place].”
