amber portwood mug shot 'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood to be released from jail, but she's not out of the woods“Teen Mom” star Amber Portwood was busted for drugs while on probation and has been in jail since December. She recently struck up a plea deal that would require her to live in a halfway house for up to two years. Yesterday, her mother, Tonya Portwood, told the press that Amber had been let off the hook, and that as long as she continued to pass drug tests, she could live with her grandparents instead of in the halfway house.

“Amber is so happy and relieved that she won’t have to live at the halfway house,” Tonya told E! News. “And now she will get to spend more time with her daughter, which is what this was all about anyway.”

Not so fast.

Turns out, Amber simply didn’t qualify for the halfway house in which the judge wanted her to live. She’ll be released from jail today (Feb. 24) but the halfway house where she was to complete treatment has refused to accept her due to “too much negative energy.” The program, called Sister 2 Sister Ministries, says Amber is “too much of a handful.” In other words… she doesn’t want to get help for her drug problem.

Amber will be released to her grandparents’ house with an electronic ankle monitor. She’ll be required to apply for residency at other halfway houses, but TMZ reports that the process could take several months. She’ll be on house arrest until then.

No word on whether Amber and her ankle monitor will be allowed to film “Teen Mom” before she enters the halfway house, but MTV has agreed to release her from her contract if the judge requires it.
