game of thrones telltale games Telltale Games reveals tantalizing 'Game of Thrones' video game teaseAs the “Game of Thrones” TV series diverges farther from George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series, will the new Telltale Games “Game of Thrones” title travel concurrently with some of the later stories from the books? That’s certainly what a new tease Telltale posted to Twitter seems to be implying.

The tweet uses an Asha Greyjoy (Yara in the “Game of Thrones” TV series) quote from book 5, “A Dance With Dragons,” and includes the hashtag #IronFromIce. Those certainly imply that the new Telltale title could take place during the time period where Asha’s story intersects with Stannis Baratheon’s in the North.

The house name “Forrester” is larger than any of the other words in the quote and is picked out in the Telltale tweet, which more than implies that the main character in the game series will be a Forrester. Book readers have not yet met a member of House Forrester, so it certainly makes sense that the game would draw from a family that avid “Game of Thrones” fans would have no major bias towards.
Back at the Game Developer’s Conference in March, Telltale’s CEO Dan Connors confirmed to Digital Trends that the game series would run concurrently to the events of “A Song of Ice and Fire” and the “Game of Thrones” HBO series.

“I think the show provides a timeline, but the world is huge,” Connors told the site. “There’s so much going on and it’s so rich. Every decision that King Joffrey makes impacts so many people. … The show does a great job of interpreting George R.R. Martin’s work, and his work provides a huge dictionary of knowledge about what the franchise is. It’s really a dream to sit down and say, ‘What’s our space in this world? Where are we in this world?’ And the world offers you so much to explore.”

Martin’s assistant Ty Corey Franck is working on the game, which recently gained “Destiny” writer Joshua Rubin. The video game will be released episodically and will be point-and-click like Telltale’s previous titles. No release date has been set.
