When Bret Michaels and Holly Robinson-Peete took the stage at the live “Celebrity Apprentice” finale event tonight, Donald Trump asked Michaels if he thought it was fair that he might get a sympathy vote. Michaels good-naturedly said that since Holly wore a “baby-making dress” and was clearly working the hotness angle, he’d “take a vote any way [he] can get it.”
Sympathy or not, Trump did say the coveted phrase to Bret Michaels tonight: “You’re hired.” As a result, Michaels will receive $250,000 dollars for his charity, the American Diabetes Association. In a surprise twist, Snapple donated an additional $250,000 to Peete’s nonprofit, the HollyRod Foundation that helps families with autistic children.
Michaels walked with a noticeable limp when he took the stage, but he seemed to be in good spirits otherwise. This afternoon, Bret’s private jet to New York City had to take a detour to Nashville when he felt too ill, but he did complete his journey. Medical professionals were standing by backstage during the finale.
Hopefully, Bret won’t over-exert himself and will continue to make his health a priority. This week he’s expected on “The Tonight Show” and “Today.”
