carey rottman christian bale victims visit 'The Dark Knight Rises' star Christian Bale visits victims of Aurora shootingChristian Bale flew to Colorado on Tuesday to visit victims of the massacre at an Aurora midnight screening of his film “The Dark Knight Rises.” The Denver Post reports that Bale and his wife Sibi Blazic spent two and a half hours at an Aurora hospital, where he met with seven victims who are still being treated five days after being shot.

“The patients were really happy to meet
Bale,” Bill Voloch, President of the Aurora Medical Center, says. “They are obviously big fans of his movies. They
wanted to see Batman and were really pleased to see Bale. It was good for the patients. We hope it was therapeutic for them, and all the staff really appreciated him coming.”

Perhaps the most touching part of the story is that Bale kept his visit quiet, requesting that the media not be notified of his presence at the hospital. He wasn’t interested in a publicity stunt or in scoring points with fans.

In fact, the media was only made aware of his arrival in town after friends of shooting victim Carey Rottman tweeted a photo of Rottman with Bale in the hospital. In addition to the seven victims, Bale met with their doctors and nurses, and also spent time with Governor John Hickenlooper. Before leaving town, Bale visited a memorial near the movie theater.
