The CW’s newest drama, the Canadian soap “The L.A. Complex,” follows a group of Hollywood wannabes living in a “Melrose Place”-esque apartment building as they try to make it in Tinseltown. Zap2it spoke with star Jonathan Patrick Moore, who plays on-the-verge-of-stardom Australian actor Connor, who says there’s some pretty juicy stuff in store for his character throughout the show’s first six episodes.
he’s covering up his very deep insecurities,” Moore explains. “He’s got a troubled past, a
broken family, and he’s found a way to manage it through women — he
doesn’t like to be alone, so if ever those feelings start to come up,
he’ll go and he’ll find someone and he’ll smile and make them melt.”
He’ll soon have plenty more women lining up to console him, considering the medical drama he’s on has just been picked up. “He’s come to Hollywood to try and make it as an actor. When you come to
Hollywood, it can be a slow and steady progression, or sometimes people
just pop. And it turns out that Connor’s going to be one of those guys
that just pops. It seems to work very quickly,” Moore says.
But don’t expect everyone living in the Lux — the apartment building on the show — to be so successful. Mostly the young residents are just trying to make enough money to pay their bills.
“[‘The L.A. Complex] follows a group of young hopefuls living in Hollywood trying to pursue their various dream — be it dancing, acting, standup comedy, music — and the bad decisions and good decisions they make. And it’s not glamorous, like ‘Melrose Place’ or ‘Entourage’ where there’s millions of dollars — it’s not that. It’s the gritty, dirty version where people are just hustling, just trying to pay their rent. Trying to audition, trying to get a job.”
