NBC’s new series “The Marriage Ref” will mediate squabbles between real-life couples. But what if the ref took on the cases of some our favorite TV duos?

Like, say, Ellie and Captain Awesome from “Chuck,” who’ve been having a few trust issues of late.

ref chuck 'The Marriage Ref': Putting TV couples to the test

We’d like to think the Ref — comedian Tom Papa, who will decide which spouse gets to win the argument — would tell Awesome (Ryan McPartlin) to loosen up a little and let Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) in on the secret he’s been keeping.

“The Marriage Ref” will feature a different cast of celebrities taking sides in small (and presumably humorous) spousal spats each week. It gets a post-Olympics preview at 10:30 p.m. ET Sunday (Feb. 28) with panelists Kelly Ripa, Alec Baldwin and Jerry Seinfeld (who’s an executive producer) trying to win Papa over to their side. It moves to its regular timeslot at 10 p.m. Thursday, March 4 with Seinfeld, Tina Fey and Eva Longoria Parker.
