michael j fox show tca panel 'The Michael J. Fox Show': Fox's real life wife Tracy Pollan to guest star

“The Michael J. Fox Show”, NBC’s new comedy starring Michael J. Fox, Betsy Brandt, and Wendell Pierce, is based loosely on Fox’s real-life experiences going back to work after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s … but it’s going to get more real-life than you expect. Fox’s wife, Tracy Pollan, will guest star in an upcoming episode, Fox announced at the NBC TCA press tour on Saturday (July 27).

“Tracy actually did an episode of the show and she was great,” Fox said. “She had a lot of scenes with Wendell. We’ll certainly mine old friendships and working partners for the show.”

Pollan will appear in the third episode of the season, and Fox teased that viewers can also expect to see special guest appearances from his old “Family Ties” cast in future episodes.

Another big guest star appearing on the new half-hour comedy is Anne Heche — and her role is a pivotal one. “Early on at NBC, we were excited about getting a nemesis for Mike,” executive producer Sam Laybourne said. “Let’s just say there was a disputed incident over 20 years ago where Anne may or may not have used Mike to get ahead in her career, and now she’s back as an anchor and they butt heads.”

Two other big-name guest stars will be appearing as themselves on the show: Matt Lauer and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. “Matt Lauer was kind enough to be in our pilot,” Laybourne said. The EP also teased that Fox’s character will interview Christie after being awake for days, and ends up nodding off three minutes into the interview.
