michelle obama easter outfit 2013 The Obamas' Easter outfits are lovely and demure for the St. John's Episcopal Church serviceFor this year’s Easter service, First Lady Michelle Obama donned a beautiful dress designed by Prabal Gurung, a Nepali-American fashion designer who launched his first solo collection just a few years ago, at New York Fashion Week 2009.

The First Lady also had on a matching coat with a gray floral print, which might be why you don’t recognize the dress at first. But it’s the same dress FLOTUS wore in June when she hosted President George W. Bush and wife Laura Bush at the White House. Nice to know the First Lady isn’t afraid to wear something again.

Daughters Sasha and Malia Obama also looked lovely in their Easter finery. Malia was in a black and white dress with a purple sweater, and Sasha had on a black and pink dress with a matching patterned sweater.

The first family attended Easter services at St. John’s Episcopal Church, which is a short walk across Lafayette Park from the White House. They heard a sermon from Rev. Dr. Luis Leon, turned political for a minute during his speech.

“The captains of the religious right are always calling us back, back
back. For blacks to be back in the back of the bus, for women to be
back in the kitchen, for gays to be in the closet and for immigrants  to
be on their side of the border. What you and I understand
is that when Jesus says you can’t hang onto me, he says you know it’s
not about the past, it’s not about the before, it’s not about the way
things were but about the way things can be in the now,” preached Leon.

President Obama also spoke of thinking of interests larger than our own in his Easter Sunday address: “This weekend, I hope we’re all able to take a moment to pause and
reflect, to embrace our loved ones, to give thanks for our blessings, to
rededicate ourselves to interests larger than our own. And
to all the Christian families who are celebrating the Resurrection,
Michelle and I wish you a blessed and joyful Easter.”

Monday (April 1) is the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, which you can watch online here.
