rachel maddow show government shutdown gop demands 'The Rachel Maddow Show' shows what the GOP gained from government shutdown

The GOP had some pretty big demands when it entered into the government shutdown at the beginning of October, and it ultimately walked away empty handed. “The Rachel Maddow Show” released a chart detailing the GOP’s demands and what it actually gained in lieu of the end of the government shutdown, and it looks like none of the GOP’s demands were granted.

“Republicans said that they would shut down the government — or then, once they shut it down, refuse to open the government — unless they got each of these things. Of all of these things that they wanted, they got nothing,” Maddow says on her show. “The Democrats had suggested before this whole process that they would please like to talk about the budget, and now Republicans will go along with that.”

On Oct. 16, the Senate announced a deal had been reached to reopen the government. It’s reported that the plan will fund the government until Jan. 15 while a permanent plan is being worked on. Were you surprised by the government shutdown outcome?
