the red road sundance season 2 'The Red Road' Season 2 will ask 'new questions,' says creatorThe finale of SundanceTV’s “The Red Road” airs Thursday (April 3), and if star Jason Momoa is to be believed, it’s going to have a “pretty gnarly” ending. But viewers shouldn’t be concerned about where the story goes from here, because there already are story ideas set up for a potential Season 2.

It’s unclear if Sundance will renew the series yet, but if it does, creator Aaron Guzikowski has a general idea of what he’d like to have happen in a future season. He would bump the episode order up to 10 — no more than 13, he says — and would expand on the questions asked in the Season 1 finale.

“There’s new questions,” he tells Zap2it during a press lunch before the show premiered. “There’s a lot of keeping it open-ended.”

Tamara Tunie, who plays Marie, has some more teases about what’s in store. She says some of the mysteries don’t “get clear up at all, why there’s so much tension and stuff. It’s a rip-roaring season finale.” “It just opens up a whole new can of worms,” she adds.

Tunie for one knows what she’d like to see in Season 2.

“I particularly would like to see more of the Native American culture,” she reveals. “We start the season with a pow wow, and I’d just like to see more of the culture influenced into the show. And also, Marie has got to get out her house, man.”

For Kiowa Gordon, who plays Junior, the answer to what he’d like to see in Season 2 is simple (and potentially a joke): “Gambling!”

If Sundance would have it, “The Red Road” has the possibility for a Season 3 and 4 and 5 as well.

“It could go on forever,” Guzikowski says. “To me, it’s a very rich world. There’s a lot of good stuff built into it that I discovered writing this first season. If not, I think it resolves in the six episodes. The storylines, they conclude.”

The Season 1 finale for “The Red Road” airs Thursday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Sundance.
