tvd 100 6 'The Vampire Diaries' 100th episode: Kat Graham promises fans 'will lose their minds'

Brace yourselves, “The Vampire Diaries” fans. When the 100th episode airs this Thursday (Jan. 23), Kat Graham knows that fans are going to go crazy over certain shocking moments — and she’s not exaggerating.

When Zap2it sat down with the resident witch of Mystic Falls turned supernatural anchor to The Other Side on set in Atlanta, Graham could barely contain her excitement over wanting to know how the fans are going to react to the milestone episode.

“I definitely think the fans are going to lose their minds,” Graham tells Zap2it. “I think the fans are going to be in ecstasy when they watch it, and I don’t think I’ve ever used that word. There are some things that happen in the 100th episode that are going to make a couple people stand on their couches and scream at their TV, ‘Yes, yes, yes!’ That’s how I’ll explain the 100th episode. I’m like, ‘We’re doing what, they’re letting who do who? What, what?’ So it’s great. It’s exciting. It’s a celebration, definitely.”

And speaking of celebrations, Graham was also excited about the 100th episode wrap party later that weekend. “This is such a crazy experience. Even this party, I though it was going to be just a little party but this is exciting,” Graham says. “It definitely feels great that Warner Brothers and The CW are as excited for this moment as we are. Because we shoot in Georgia we’re separated from the rest of the world, so for everyone to come down here and share this moment with us is such a beautiful feeling.”

Graham is relieved that her character Bonnie made it to the 100th episode alive, especially considering that she’s had more than a few brushes with death (and spent a whole summer as a ghost).

“I didn’t think I was going to make it past the pilot; I’m going to be dead-a** with you,” Graham says. “I thought I would have been recast or something. I had shot five pilots before ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and not one of them got picked up. So a 100th episode is like, not real to me. It’s a beautiful, humbling experience but I still can’t believe I’ve been on it this long. It’s great.”

Over the past five seasons, Bonnie has changed a lot both as a person and as a supernatural being. Graham has loved portraying that evolution onscreen. “I think a lot of it was my evolution as an actor and not being afraid to do different things,” Graham says. “We all have grown on this show. We were really babies when we started, not that we’re all super grown and fabulous now but we’ve all grown as actors.”

She continues, “I can sit comfortably in the character whereas before, I don’t know. We just know our characters so well now. We know how the character would react to certain situations, we know what the character would do, we know how the character speaks, their mannerisms, their clothes, so I wouldn’t say it’s easier, but the scenes are easier. I think we all feel pretty comfortable in our shoes now.”

Graham knows how rare it is for a show to make it to 100 episodes, and she’s proud to be a part of the big milestone. “I’m just excited that we’ve made it this far,” Graham says. “It’s so hard to think about anything past this moment because it’s just so big and exciting. I mean, 100 episodes! That’s crazy.”

While Graham couldn’t reveal too much about the episode, she could tease that while there are shocking moments, there are also great callbacks to earlier characters and stories that fans will appreciate. “You guys are going to see a lot of familiar faces,” Graham says. “And more ghost moments. I can’t really say too much but I can say that you will get to see more moments with Bonnie and Jeremy. You’ve got to stay tuned.”

“The Vampire Diaries” 100th episode airs Thursday (Jan. 23) at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
