Arielle Kebbel says, and knows, “anything is possible in Mystic Falls” when it comes to returning to “The Vampire Diaries.”
Not only a recurring guest star as deceased yet ghostly bloodsucker Lexi Branson on the CW series, but also the host of the “Rehash” episode recaps on the network’s Web site, Kebbel maintains she has no idea whether her character actually will resurface when Season 5 begins this fall. She’s learned never to say “never,” though, when it comes to that show.
“It’s important for me to let the fans know that they have truly helped to keep Lexi alive,” the friendly Kebbel tells Zap2it. “I love the character deeply, and [executive producer] Julie Plec loves the character, and we are doing the best we can to continue keeping her alive.
“The exciting thing about Lexi is that you never know when she’s going to pop up … but she absolutely can. And most likely will. We’ve had some talk [about Lexi possibly appearing on the upcoming spinoff ‘The Originals’], but that’s uncharted territory, so they’re still figuring out how they want to handle that.”
Hosting “The Vampire Diaries Rehash” has helped Kebbel land her summer job for The CW, a network she’s worked for a lot, also given the time she spent on “90210,” “Life Unexpected” and (during the pre-CW era of the WB Network) “Gilmore Girls.”
She presides over the dating show “Perfect Score,” premiering Tuesday, July 16. Though she’s entering the reality genre as the host who helps guide two friends through choosing their ideal partners — with a $50,000 prize on the line — Kebbel insists she intends to continue acting while establishing herself in the other realm.
“I’m very committed to doing both,” she confirms. “I’m not leaving one for the other. It’s just broadening my horizons, and encompassing all aspects of who I am and what I want to be doing in my career. I did have people in Hollywood saying things like, ‘You can’t do that. It’s confusing to this town.’ Well, what does that even mean?
“I just had to say, ‘Listen, I respect your opinion, but it’s not confusing to me.’ I know what I love and I know what I want to do, and it absolutely makes sense to me. So, I’m just going to keep on keepin’ on, and we’ll see.”
