Melissa McCarthy‘s inclusion as one of five cover girls for Elle magazine’s November issue, the annual “Women in Hollywood” issue, has garnered a bit of criticism over the magazine’s choice to dress the “Mike & Molly” actress in an oversized coat. Someone who thinks the critics need to calm down? McCarthy’s very own cousin, Jenny McCarthy.
On Thursday (Oct. 17), the new “View” host used the show as an opportunity to defend her family member, explaining that she thinks a big deal’s been made out of nothing. “A lot of people are giving Elle magazine flack right now because my cousin Melissa McCarthy is on the cover,” the host began. “She’s my real cousin, she’s my first cousin. And the thing that drives me nuts is that people are up in arms, saying, ‘Elle, how dare you? This is really upsetting that you’re covered up, that you put a coat on her!'”
“Guess what?” Jenny continued, “She looks gorgeous. Second, McCarthy girls, no one’s gonna make us wear anything we don’t want to wear. And guess what? This is a fall issue, about coats! So everyone needs to just shut up.”
Do you think the reaction to the Elle cover is overblown?
