the walking dead conan glenn maggie steve yeun lauren cohan amc 'The Walking Dead' on 'Conan': Lesbian zombies, apocalyptic songs and more highlights

“Conan” devoted its Thursday (Feb. 6) episode to “The Walking Dead.” Cast members Lauren Cohan, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride and Danai Gurira joined Conan O’Brien to talk about the show’s romance, makeup, horrors, swords and more.

A lesbian zombie kiss?

Before the cast even made it onto the stage, however, O’Brien entertained audiences by bringing the world’s first lesbian zombie kiss to television. Groundbreaking or not, this really was not terribly romantic. There seemed to be a bit of chewing if nothing else.

Gleggie, Uhnhhuh or ‘Those Two’

Yeun and Cohan started out the interviews on “Conan.” Naturally, their onscreen romance came up, and O’Brien had great fun mocking Glen’s open-eyed kiss face. It really isn’t terribly romantic either, but after the lesbian zombies, anything looks erotic.

As it turns out, the two actors aren’t big on their shipper name, Gleggie. Yeun remarked that it sounded like “the Scottish word for phlegm.” But what other possibilities are there? While O’Brien suggested “Those Two,” Cohan favored an inarticulate name that sounded a bit like “Uhnhhuh.”

Grunting noises came back into the conversation when the trio discussed “life” as a zombie. Yeun theorized that maybe the zombies were happy. “They could be having moaning orgasms the entire time!” explains the actor.

Daryl’s many potential romances

Once the rest of the cast came out onto the stage — missing star Andrew Lincoln, who was stuck in London and sick — much of the talk turned to Daryl and all of the characters Reedus could someday join in a couple.

The pairing of Glenn and Daryl, for example, seems to have an entire plot, meet-cute and details that include the two men falling upon each other in a field. This is projected to come in Season 7. Meanwhile, the hypothetical Carol-Daryl romance already has a song:

“Daryl is feral and Carol is sterile, a match made in H***!”

Their romance story has something to do with squirrels in Central Park.

Survive the zombie apocalypse with big swords

In discussion with Gurira, O’Brien seemed fascinated by all the swords — the actress keeps some of them in the trunk of her car (much to the shock of the people who washed that car). The swords also figure into the Michonne portrayer’s thoughts on how to survive in the face of the world’s end:

“You have to completely alter how you see the world and how you see yourself surviving. And you have to grab a katana.”

“The Walking Dead” returns Sunday, Feb. 9 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
