The promos for the finale of “The Walking Dead” Season 4 don’t lead viewers to believe that Terminus the wonderful place it at first seemed in episode 15, “Us.”

In the above video, the focus is on Rick, Carl and Michonne running through the woods, fighting off walkers and looking generally haggard and horrified. But snuck into the Rick-focused promo is a quick shot of Norman, and another eerie image of the trio walking into a room filled with candles and with the word “Always” on the wall.

The above scene from the episode, which shows Rick, Michonne and Carl hunting animals, clearly has some meta implications about the show. Rick is describing setting a noose so an animal has no choice but to walk into it, and couldn’t the same be said about Terminus? No one actually thinks this is a safe place, right?

Before Rick can continue his lesson, the trio hear someone screaming for help, and Carl runs to assist. Is it someone from their group, or someone else entirely? The voice isn’t familiar, and we still haven’t met Gareth yet.

In another clip shown on “Talking Dead,” Carl asks Rick and Michonne what they should say about themselves when they get to Terminus. He is the only one opening up about how they cope with who they are as people at this point in the apocalypse. According to host Chris Hardwick, that was the only clip that didn’t give away huge action moments from the finale.
Even though the focus is on Rick, Carl and Michonne in these clips and promos, that likely won’t mean that they’re the only people in the finale. “The Walking Dead” has slowly been bringing the group back together since they were split up after the midseason finale, and chances are everyone will arrive at Terminus by season’s end — though whether they all survive is yet to be seen.

The 16th and final episode of “The Walking Dead” Season 4 airs Sunday, March 30 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
