nathan sykes throat surgery gi The Wanted's Nathan Sykes taking 'unforeseen hiatus' for throat surgery

The Wanted will soon be missing a key member due to an “unforeseen hiatus.” It’s been announced that the band’s Nathan Sykes will be undergoing throat surgery on April 18 in Los Angeles.

“Our lil Nath has to go in for an op on his throat on his birthday to make him better so join us in wishing him well. We love ya! #GetWellNath,” The Wanted announces on Facebook. In addition, the band tweets, “We will be passing on all your words of support and love, it means the world to him and you definitely help us all through this.”

While The Wanted band members seem to be optimistic about the surgery, Sykes simply tweets, “Gutted …” He later adds, “Can’t sleep. So much on my mind.”

“We can confirm that The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes will under go specialist throat surgery on Thursday 18th April in Los Angeles and as such will be taking unforeseen hiatus form The Wanted,” the official statement for Sykes’ departure reads. “The priority for Nathan, his label and management is that he is given time to recover and receive the best treatment possible. The remaining four members of The Wanted will continue fulfilling the bands promotional commitments across the world.”

According to reports, this surgery will result in Sykes being unable to speak for a month. This comes after the news that the band’s E! reality series, “The Wanted Life,” will premiere on June 2 and that The Wanted will kick off a tour later this year.
