s’ mother, Kultida Woods,
was present to lend moral support to her troubled son at his small press conference
this Friday morning (Feb. 19) .
Woods called his behavior a “personal disappointment” and put the blame on his shoulders alone. “I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated.”
]]>The golfer said that the state of his marriage would remain private. But did reveal that his wife told him that his deeds, not his words, would decide if their marriage could survive.
Woods also addressed reports that his wife had assaulted him the night of his crash. Watch the video here.
“Elin never hit me that night, or any other night,” he says. “There has never been an episode of domestic violence in our marriage.”
Woods’ voice quivered a few times during his 15-minute statement. He announced that he will return to rehab for more treatment but that he still “had a long way to go.”
“It’s hard to admit that I need help,” he said. “But I do.”
As for coming back to the PGA Tour, Woods said: “I do plan to return to golf one day. I just don’t know when that day will be. I don’t rule out it will be this year.”
So that door is, for now, still open.
