tim tebow tebowing trademarked Tim Tebow is now the legal owner of the term 'Tebowing'

Make your last “Tebowing” jokes while you can, because Tim Tebow has officially trademarked his iconic pose.

Yes, that means that as of Oct. 9 Tebow and his XV Enterprises marketing agency are the proud legal owners of all things related to Tebowing, Deadspin reports. But don’t get your hopes up for an official Tebowing coffee mug, hoodie or iPhone app just yet, because ESPN’s Jane McManus says he copyrighted the term so others will stop taking advantage of it.

“Tebow said he doesn’t plan to make any money on ‘Tebowing’ trademark, but doesn’t want other people to cash in. It is still a prayer to him,” she tweets.

The Tebowing website defines the term as “to get down on a knee and start praying, even if everyone else around you is doing something completely different.” Of course, that’s not how Tebow intended it: it’s his prayer stance during games. Hopefully he still recognizes the humor of it all, because we want people to continue doing ridiculous Tebowing stunts like these.

“I know it was something that was cool for me in the past, but it’s not something I do as ‘Tebowing,'” Tebow tells Newsday, via ESPN. “It’s something I do that’s prayer for me and then it got hyped up as Tebowing. So I think [it’s] just to control how it’s used as well. Make sure it’s used in the right way.”
