But who gets the Beckhams?
When David Beckham and his wife, Victoria, first moved to Los Angeles, they were heavily courted by the movie star and his actress wife. The Cruises (including Tom’s adopted children with Nicole Kidman, Connor and Bella) were often spotted cheering on the soccer stud from the Beckhams’ VIP box at the L.A. Galaxy home games.
The combined families, including Beckham boys Romeo, Cruz and Brooklyn (daughter Harper was born last year), even celebrated Thanksgiving together.
But if any divorce called for split custody of celebrity BFFs, it’s this one — with a natural division along gender lines.
Becks, 37, who was cut from the British Olympic soccer team, must be carefully considering his post-retirement future — and Cruise has already proclaimed that he wants to make him a movie star.
“I’d love to do action movies with Beckham,” Cruise said while promoting “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol.” “He would be great, he could kick a**.”
But Katie and Posh have an even stronger bond: fashion.
“We go to the same events, and we’ll call each other to ask, ‘What color are you wearing?'” Holmes, 33, recently told “Elle” magazine. “I’m always interested in what she’s liking for the season.”
Victoria Beckham has established herself as both a fashion icon and successful designer, with three collections of her own. And Katie is following in her stiletto-heeled footsteps, launching her own collection, Holmes & Yang, with stylist Jeanne Yang.
Meanwhile, Suri is already sharing the celebri-tot fashion spotlight (and pacifier accessories) with baby Harper.
So far the Beckhams have not publicly professed their allegiance, but the court of popular opinion is already weighing in on the split. Team Katie already has a dedicated Facebook page, complete with a petition, support rally and creepy mask.
