newsies tony awards 2012 Tony Awards 2012: 'Newsies' still makes us want to 'Seize the Day'We were big, big fans of the movie “Newsies” when we were little – heck, we’re still big fans, who are we kidding? So we were delighted to watch the cast of the Broadway adaptation perform “Seize the Day” for the 2012 Tony Awards.

The number was led by Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan (who is not the early 1990s “Right Kind of Love” artist, in case anyone is confused). The newsboys sounded great and did some amazing choreography involving pieces of newsprint that they danced on top of – it’s no surprise the musical won Best Choreography for choreographer Christopher Gattelli.

The musical is up for eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Performance by a Lead Actor. We’ll post video of the “Seize the Day” performance just as soon as we have it.
