Bookworms, we’re in luck. Lonely Planet has released a list of their top 10 greatest bookshops in the world. Sorry Borders, you didn’t quite make the cut. As for you Chelsea and Hil Duff, we’re not so sure we’ll find your books in these places either.

While in San Fran, we hear this is the place to really get that boho experience. It offers weekly readings and events, and was once a meeting point for American beat writers such as Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. 
2. Librer�a El Ateneo Grand Spendid, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Replacing a 1920s theater downtown while keeping its original decor, this bookshop is considered to be one of the world’s most beautiful.
3. Livraria Lello, Porto, Portugal
At just over 100 years old, this shop has available books in both English and Portuguese and features a small cafe underneath a stained-glass skylight. 
4. Shakespeare & Company, Paris, France
Located in the Latin Quarter of Paris, this is where American beat poets would hang out while in Europe. Opened in 1951 by George Whitman, he passed the torch to his daughter who now runs it.
5. Daunt Books, London, England
This mini-chain carries everything from guides and maps to biographies and fiction. It can be found in five enclaves of London, though the best is said to be found in Marylebone, its original location.

6. Another Country, Berlin, Germany
Interestingly, this eccentric shop could be considered a library of sorts. Customers may purchase books, and return them upon reading for a refund of just �1.50 less than original cost. 
7. The Bookworm, Beijing, China
Aside from the whisky bar and monthly wine club that can be found here, it also features a lending library and is one of the few places in China where readers can find banned books.

8. Selexyz Dominicanen, Maastricht, The Netherlands
You can find this one in a 13th-century Dominican Church, where in place of an altar, you can find a cafe. The three-story high shelves allow for 1,2000 square meters of selling space where there is only 750 square meters of floor space.
9. Book�bar, Rome, Italy
Art lovers, this is the bookstore for you. Come on, it’s Italy. Not only that, the contemporary shop boasts books, catalogues, CDs, DVDs and more.

10. Atlantis Books, Santorini, Greece
Opened by a group of American and European university graduates, they created an independent bookshop filled with cult novels and cultural events all while looking out on the Aegean Sea.
We are ready to add any of these to our traveling bucket list. After all, we need a little culture in our lives anyway…
