Cursing note: Angelo drops the F-bomb during our chat.

What can we say about Season 7’s Angelo Sosa? We’re not surprised he made Bravo’s “Top Chef: All-Stars.” He didn’t have any shortage of confidence in the kitchen and he had the credentials to back it up. After Zap2it spoke to Season 5’s Carla Hall at Bravo’s kick-off party in New York City, Angelo dropped in and we had to chat him up, as well.
It hasn’t been long since we saw Angelo battle it out in last season’s finals while suffering from some kind of illness. While it didn’t go his way, Angelo has dealt with the disappointment.
“Bottom line, [Kevin Sbraga] cooked a great dish that day,” the restaurant consultant tells us. “Honestly, I was just happy that I cooked and I was able to do what I loved.”
Afterward, Angelo rested up for four days before the producers called him about participating in the “All-Stars” season. And about a week-and-a-half later, he was shooting again. “Honestly, it was a double-edged sword,” he says. “I wish I had time to rest. Then, again, I had the momentum, too. So, I teeter-tot back and forth.”
Now, he’s up against the best of the best, including some friends in the cast. Does that change the game for him?
“At the end of the day, it’s about who you stand next to and who respects you,” he says. “What I want to say is I don’t want to just go cutthroat and ruin people left and right. I want to stand tall and I want people to respect me.”
Once again, Angelo and the 17 other “All-Stars” had to share living quarters, so we asked him about what the chef’testants were like outside of the kitchen.
Who’s the biggest clown?
I think it depends on what circle you’re in. Definitely Carla resonates with me. She’s amazing. I f*****g love Carla.
Who’s “Top Chef’s” “Jekyll and Hyde”?
[Season 2’s Marcel Vigneron] is definitely a wikipedia topic. Out of camera, we totally intermingle. He’s amazing. In the kitchen, he just turns into this… Like we all transform, like ‘Transformers’ [whistles theme song], We just transform [in this] chef forum. So, you know, that’s who Marcel came to be. So, like, definitely out of the kitchen, I appreciate him.
Hm, sounds like we’ll be seeing some rivalry between Angelo and Marcel in the kitchen, huh? Are you excited to see Angelo back?

“Top Chef: All Stars” premieres Wednesday, December 1 at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo.
