“Eastwick” has cast its last spell, but Sara Rue will be back on ABC in the near future.
Rue, who co-starred in the canceled “Eastwick,” has booked a guest role on “Private Practice” later this season. So has Bruno Campos (“The Princess and the Frog,” “Royal Pains”), ABC confirms to Zap2it.
The episode is tentatively scheduled for February and will feature Rue as a mother who has to make the heart-wrenching decision whether to keep her premature baby alive via traumatic surgery or let the child die. In a separate story in the same episode, Campos will play Charlotte’s (KaDee Strickland) new man.
– “Big Love” got some more love from viewers in its season premiere.
The HBO series attracted 1.7 million viewers for its fourth-season opener Sunday (Jan. 10). That’s a sizable improvement over the season 3 premiere in January 2009 (1.1 million).
It also mirrors the general upswing HBO and several other cable channels have been experiencing in the past year or so. HBO’s “True Blood” set viewing records seemingly every week last summer (which in turn helped “Entourage” rebound and “Hung” have a strong first season), and Showtime’s “Dexter” followed a similar path in the fall. Several USA series and FX’s “Sons of Anarchy” have also set all-time highs recently.
