confessional couch is feeling now.

TLC president and general manager Eileen O’Neill gave a brief statement about her most popular show at press tour Thursday, including the fact that when the show returns from hiatus on Monday, “the couch, the iconic couch, is gone.”

Will someone, please, think of the furniture?

O’Neill didn’t say much more about the show in her remarks, although it seems clear that TLC has no intention of pulling the plug on “Jon & Kate” anytime soon. “Our approach to this circumstance is simple: to cover the family with great care and thoughtfulness as they deal with subject,” she says.

“Jon and Kate have never said they were perfect, which has made them relatable and created an unbelievable connection with our viewers. We’ll continue to capture this family’s journey in a respectful and sensitive way.”

As for any “new people or places” that might enter into Jon or Kate Gosselin’s life, “we’re taking it on a case-by-case basis.”

Oh, and the couch? It’s been replaced by separate interview chairs.
