american idol 12 march 6 rtgs TV ratings: 'American Idol' coasts to victory on a rerun filled WednesdayFast National ratings for Wednesday, March 6, 2013

CBS and ABC rested their top shows Wednesday, meaning there was little competition for “American Idol” at the top of the night’s Nielsen ratings.

“Idol” fell just a little bit from its performance last Wednesday, dropping a tenth of a point in adults 18-49 and losing a couple hundred thousand viewers. But it was easily the night’s top show.

Among the few other new episodes Wednesday, “Survivor: Caramoan” was off slightly from last week for CBS, while “The Neighbors” and “Suburgatory” were basically in line with their performances from the last time they had reruns of “The Middle” and “Modern Family” as lead-ins. “Whitney” was up some for NBC.

FOX scored 12.7 million viewers and a 7.6 rating/12 share in households for the night. CBS (7.9 million, 5.1/8) came in second, a good bit in front of ABC (4.8 million, 3.1/5). NBC took fourth with 3.85 million viewers and a 2.6/4, and The CW (1.4 million, 0.9/1) trailed.

FOX also dominated the adults 18-49 race with a 3.7 rating, almost doubling the 1.9 for No. 2 CBS. ABC posted a 1.5, followed by NBC, 1.1, and The CW, 0.4.
