NBC claimed its usual spot atop the ratings Sunday with its NFL coverage, but the game didn’t steal viewers the American Music Awards on ABC. The awards were up a little bit in viewers compared to last year’s show and held steady in adults 18-49.

Thanks to “Sunday Night Football,” NBC topped the night with 14.8 million viewers and a 9.2 rating/14 share in households. CBS, which also had NFL games bleed into primetime, grabbed second with 11.9 million viewers and a 7.4/11. (Because of their live sports coverage, both networks’ numbers may change some.) ABC (10.1 million, 5.8/9) finished third, and FOX was pretty far off the pace with 4.6 million viewers and a 2.7/4.

NBC led the adults 18-49 demographic as well, drawing a 5.5 rating in primetime. ABC finished second with a 3.5. CBS’ 2.8 was good for third, beating out FOX’s 2.2.
