snf giants cowboys TV Ratings: Giants/Cowboys 'SNF' scores big for NBCFast National ratings for Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012

“Sunday Night Football” on NBC never has trouble dominating the Sunday ratings, but the New Year’s Day eve TV landscape was even sparser than usual. That, coupled with a playoff-determining matchup between the Giants and Cowboys, helped NBC to an even bigger win than usual.

NBC averaged 20.1 million viewers and an 11.5 rating/18 share in households. CBS was the only other network to put up decent ratings, aided by a new “60 Minutes.” The Eye averaged 10.8 million and a 6.6/11. FOX was third with 3.9 million, 2.3/4, ABC was fourth with 3.8 million, 2.4/4 and the CW was last with 1.3 million, 0.8/1.

In the 18-49 demographic, NBC also had no trouble winning handily with a 7.0, followed by CBS (2.3), FOX (1.6), ABC (1.1) and the CW (0.4).
