The crowning of a new women’s figure skating champion at the Winter Olympics carried NBC to a ratings victory Thursday night, although the first cuts on “American Idol” outperformed the games in adults 18-49.

NBC brought in an average of 22.5 million viewers and a 13.3 rating/21 share for the night, way ahead of FOX’s 12.75 million and 7.4/11. CBS (9.6 million, 6.0/9) came in third. ABC (4 million, 2.8/4) was fourth, and The CW (1.6 million, 1.1/2) brought up the rear.

In the adults 18-49 demo, NBC’s 5.8 beat out FOX’s 4.9 for the top spot. CBS finished third with a 2.5. ABC averaged 1.2 and The CW 0.7.
