super bowl 48 ratings TV ratings: Super Bowl ratings fall with Seahawks' blowout win [Updated]Fast National ratings for Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014

Sunday was a great night for the Seattle Seahawks, and Super Bowl XLVIII delivered massive ratings per usual. But partly due to the Seahawks’ lopsided win over the Denver Broncos, ratings for the game will likely be down from recent years.

UPDATE: The preliminary numbers reversed some in the final overnights, with the game setting a new all-time ratings record.

The Super Bowl scored a 47.6 rating/70 share in the preliminary metered-market ratings, down from last year’s 48.1/71 and the lowest mark since 2010. Fast national ratings, which aren’t super-accurate for a live telecast, are also down. “New Girl” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”  look to have scored way above their usual numbers as expected, but since they started at 10:23 p.m. ET, accurate numbers won’t be available until later in the day.

In the fast nationals, FOX delivered 80.7 million viewers and a 34.4 rating/51 share in households. CBS (3.9 million, 2.6/4) was the best of the rest, followed by ABC (2.7 million, 1.6/2) and NBC (2.4 million, 1.5/2).

FOX delivered a 29.1 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic. ABC scored a 0.7, and CBS and NBC tied at 0.5.
