There’s nothing like a Close Encounter to shake up your Wednesday afternoon. When a few “white lights” appeared in the sky above NYC – Chelsea, to be exact – on Oct. 13, New Yorkers paused their busy schedules to try to get a glimpse. Photos were tweeted, phone calls were made, and newscasters were sent to the West Side of Manhattan to report live from the scene.
There were several round unidentified objects hovering above the city around 1:30 p.m., which prompted several calls to the Federal Aviation Administration. Though the agency hasn’t confirmed what exactly was in the sky, the assumption is that they were silver balloons. According to the New York Post, flights were not impacted.
