Kathy-Bates-Valentines-Day-320.jpgAnother day closer to the premiere of “Valentine’s Day” and our daily countdown continues with Kathy Bates. In the film, Bates plays cupid in her role of Susan, the “love therapist.”

Bates’ acting talent spans all media. She has a Tony award in theatre, a Golden Globe and an Oscar in film, as well as a SAG award and seven Emmy nominations in television. She has acted alongside Hollywood notables like James Caan in “Misery“; Jack Nicholson in “About Schmidt“; John Travolta, Emma Thompson and Billy Bob Thornton in “Primary Colors“; and Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in “Revolutionary Road.”

In 2003, Bates was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and battled the disease secretly for several years. She went public in 2008 after the cancer was in complete remission.

Currently, you can find Bates in a multiple episode arc on NBC’s “The Office.” She plays Jo Bennett, the no-nonsense Southerner and CEO of Sabre, the company that has just acquired Dunder Mifflin.

But, of course, no retrospective of the amazing Kathy Bates would be complete without revisiting the role that won her the Oscar and really launched her career. Behold, a writer’s worst nightmare, a psychotic #1 fan, Annie Wilkes in “Misery.”

Earlier this week, Variety reported that Bates has joined the film “Earthbound” about a woman who unexpectedly falls in love with her doctor. Her costars include Whoopi Goldberg, Kate Hudson and Gael Garcia Bernal.

Coming up: Queen Latifah
