“The Vampire Diaries” co-creator Kevin Williamson has signed a new deal with Warner Bros. TV. The three-year contract will keep him in place as the showrunner of “TVD” (along with co-creator Julie Plec) while he also develops new projects for the studio. [Deadline]

Former “Prison Break” star Robert Knepper will reprise his T-Bag character on A&E’s forthcoming series “Breakout Kings.” The show is about a group of U.S. marshals who work with ex-cons to help catch fugitives, T-Bag among them. [EW]

Arthur Bernard Lewis, a TV writer on “Dallas,” “The Streets of San Francisco” and other shows, died last week at the age of 84. He penned the 1980 episode of “Dallas” that revealed who shot J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman), which at the time was the highest-rated TV episode ever. [Hollywood Reporter]

“NCIS” star Cote de Pablo will get blown up real good in an upcoming story arc. The two-parter set for Nov. 16 and 23, features a kitchen exploding, “and I’m in the middle of it,” she says. []

TLC has greenlit a limited series called “Homecoming,” hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus, in which members of the military stage surprise homecomings to their loved ones. The cable channel picked up three episodes of the show, which is set to premiere in the spring. [TLC]

Disney 😄 has given the go-ahead to a series called “Tron: Uprising,” to premiere in the summer of 2012. It will chronicle the events that happened between the original “Tron” film and December’s sequel “Tron Legacy,” with voice work by Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore and Bruce Boxleitner, reprising his role as Tron.
